Crossover Basketball and Scholars Academy is an educational non-profit organization that pairs basketball with an academic focus in a manner that will ensure that students become lifelong learners, and are able to see the doors education opens.
At Crossover, we asked ourselves: how can we change the way the students approach the current education system? Our solution uses the leveraging of the concept of “team” to engage the students on both an individual and communal level, isolate the motivations and ideals of good sportsmanship, and give students tools to carry from the court into the classroom. At the end of the day, we believe that education is the ultimate key to unlock the potential of India’s youth — and the creativity, drive, and cooperation that are vital to success in basketball are the same skills that will make them successful in the classroom, in college, and beyond.
Our participation model focuses on any interested, motivated, student-athlete regardless of family income or socioeconomic status. Our academic model seeks to promote opportunities available through US secondary and college programs to leverage athletic ability into academic opportunity. And, our coaching model looks to create future Indian community leaders through John Wooden’s methodology of teaching teamwork, adaptability, strategy, competition, and cooperation.
